HISTORY
Walnut Valley Quilters Guild held its first meeting at the Denton Art
Center in Arkansas City on February 12, 1979.
Seventy members joined the first year.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the guild is to stimulate an interest in quilts, to promote
and advance the art of quiltmaking, and to conduct educational programs
and services in the design and techniques of quiltmaking.
MEETINGS
WVQG meets the second Monday of each month at 1:00 p.m. and again at 7:00
p.m. Having two meetings
enables most members to attend regardless of work and family schedules. Meetings are scheduled alternately between Winfield and
Arkansas City since our members come from a wide area.
WHY
JOIN WVQG?
At monthly meetings members enjoy local, state or nationally known quilt
experts as speakers. Members
are encouraged to bring their own projects for Show and Share at each
meeting. WVQG has its own
library for members to check out quilting books.
The guild sponsors many workshops for members to
"fine-tune" their quilting skills or to learn the newest
techniques.
Annual
dues are only $15 for all this and more!
