Opportunity Quilt ---
The
opportunity quilt, Bouquets, will be given
away at 4:30
p.m. on Sunday, April 1, at the conclusion of the second day. The
beautiful quilt is a generous queen size (89x89). It was hand appliquéd
by members of Walnut Valley Quilters Guild and machine quilted by
Kim Hull. Tickets are $1 each or
6 for $5 and may be purchased from a WVQG member or by contacting
Donna Beene (620.442.9570) or Claudia Ehlers (620.845.2270). Tickets will be available at the show!
Kim Hull drafted the patterns for
the opportunity quilt from the photograph of an antique quilt (between
1890 and 1900). A group of WVQG members, along with Kim,
hand-appliquéd the floral blocks. Kim pieced the appliquéd quilt
blocks together by adding the corner pieces which she hand appliquéd.
Kim then spent over 15 hours machine quilting. What a treasure! The
quilt has been appraised and the written appraisal will be given to
the winner of the drawing on April 1, 2007.
The
quilt comes with its very own tote bag. The appliqué on the
front of the bag was designed and created by Roberta Byers. The
quilting design, "Bouquets" done in trapunto, and the machine quilting
of the bag were done by Kim Hull. The same fabrics used in the
quilt were used to make the bag, and the bag has a red satin lining.
